Are you curious about careers in business but don’t know where to start or which role you are best suited for? This four-session mini-series will provide an opening overview of roles for PhDs in the business landscape and how they tie into each other. We will then be joined by panels of business professionals to take a deep dive into the skillsets required for success in careers in venture capital, quantitative research and trading, and management consulting.

Session Content

Session 1: Overview of business/commercialization careers
Led by UChicagoGRAD and myCHOICE, in this session, you will get an overview of the different fields that comprise business/commercialization and their interactions in the business landscape. This overview will expand beyond the three areas that will be covered in the following panel discussions.
Session 2: Bio Equity Research and Venture Capital
Session 3: Quantitative Researchers and Trading
Session 4: Management, Life Science, and Boutique Consulting

Panel discussions will explore different ways the panelists leveraged their PhD training to pursue these careers and include detailed conversations on day-to-day activities in each career, skill sets that are suited for those careers, and opportunities for upper and lateral mobility.
