The Taconic Legal team consists of three attorneys and two staff assistants. Randy is the sole in-house IP/Patent attorney and works remotely from his home in Western New York.
Externship Description
Externship candidates interested in intellectual property (patent) law, within the context of a biotech/pharma commercial products and service provider, will be able to immerse themselves in projects relating to IP due diligence and strategy.
Objectives
- Deliverables include an FTO/patent landscape assessment in written and chart form.
- The candidate extern will become familiar with a patent search database, one or two specific technology arenas, and reviewing the claims of various patent documents.
- Candidate extern will receive one-on-one instruction and training from a Registered Patent Attorney with a Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology.
- A weekly or biweekly meeting cadence will allow sufficient time for learning and dialogue (questions) concerning the projects that s/he will be undertaking.
Qualifications
- The preferred candidate extern will be a senior graduate student, or post-doc in the biological sciences and is interested in obtaining their law degree or becoming a patent agent (post-graduate law students are welcome as well).
