Alexander Advani, PhD

Senior Engagement Manager, LifeSci Consulting

Dr. Advani received his PhD in Genetics, Genomics, and Systems Biology from the University of Chicago prior to entering the life sciences industry. In his current role as a Senior Engagement Manager at LifeSci Consulting, he provides biopharmaceutical companies with broad functional area expertise, including competitive strategy, portfolio strategic planning, launch strategy, and site of care analysis. Over his career, he has helped develop and commercialize new molecular entities in multiple therapeutic areas, including hematology/oncology, immunology, genetic and rare disease, and infectious disease.

Rui He, PhD

Life Science Specialist, L.E.K

Rui is a senior life science specialist at L.E.K. Consulting, supporting strategy development for biopharma companies of all sizes, from biotech to MNC. Before L.E.K., she did her Ph.D. in Psychology focused on the neural electrophysiology of olfaction at the University of Chicago and her bachelor’s degree in psychobiology at UCLA.

Michael Silverman, PhD

President, BioStrategics Consulting

Dr. Silverman is the principal of BioStrategics Consulting Ltd (www.biostrategics.com), which provides strategic and technical clinical development consulting services to development-stage biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies around the world. Prior to founding his consulting company, Dr. Silverman’s pharmaceutical industry career included positions of increasing responsibility at both global and start-up companies, where he managed multiple pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects across a broad scope of therapeutic areas. Previously, he was in clinical practice of medicine. Dr. Silverman received his BS from the University of Illinois and his MD from the University of Chicago. He completed his medical residency at the University of Iowa and a fellowship at the University of Colorado Medical Center. He is doubly certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, and was awarded Fellowship by the American College of Physicians in 1983. In 2020, he was awarded the University of Chicago Alumni Service Medal for extended, extraordinary service to the University, where he has served as the President of the Medical and Biological Sciences Alumni Association and currently sits on the Dean’s Council. In recent years, Dr. Silverman has been devoting significant time to educational activities in the areas of biology, medicine, and the pharmaceutical industry. He serves as a mentor to students, trainees. and entrepreneurs at the University of Illinois- Champaign School of Molecular and Cellular Biology; Carle Illinois Medical School; the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Venture Mentoring Service; and the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine and the Biological Sciences Division. He has lectured on pharmaceutical development at Boston University School of Management, University of Chicago Professional Education, and Boston University Master of Clinical Research program.

Dr. Silverman welcomes the opportunity to contribute to the education of students and young professionals in the fields of his experience and expertise, through mentoring, tutoring, career counseling, and lecturing.
