Externship Description
Business Development & Communications Externship — Bayesoft
You will assist in drafting outreach materials, preparing pitch decks and one-pagers, researching target markets and competitive landscapes, and supporting the development of our external voice — website copy, LinkedIn content, and conference materials. You will learn how to translate technically complex ideas into compelling narratives for non-technical audiences.
You will gain experience in: B2B outreach and lead generation, science and technology communication, market research, content creation, and the fundamentals of commercializing an AI product in regulated industries.
Ideal for: students in communications, business, public health, or life sciences who are strong writers, curious about AI, and excited by the challenge of making sophisticated tools legible and appealing to the people who need them most.
Specific Objectives
Deliverable
A market research report and accompanying outreach package — including a competitive landscape summary, a target partner/client list with outreach rationale, at least two drafted pitch or communication assets (e.g., one-pager, email sequence, or LinkedIn content series), and a final presentation to the Bayesoft leadership team.
Tasks and Domain Knowledge
The extern will learn to:
- Research and map a market, identifying and qualifying potential partners or clients
- Translate technical AI concepts into accessible language for non-technical audiences
- Develop professional outreach and communication materials
- Gain exposure to how AI companies position themselves in regulated industries such as life sciences
Training
The extern will receive one-on-one guidance from the business lead, structured feedback sessions on written materials, and curated resources on science communication, B2B outreach strategy, and the AI and life sciences landscape. Guest conversations with advisors or partners may be arranged depending on scheduling.
Structured In-Person / Synchronous Time
A weekly one-hour meeting with their supervisor at a set time to review progress, give feedback on materials, and align on priorities. Additional async collaboration is expected, with at least one live working or co-writing session per week.
