Externship Description
This externship provides experience in workforce development at the Chicago Quantum Exchange, emphasizing skill-building in program management and science communication. Externs will engage directly with Q-Ready, a pioneering initiative connecting students and postdocs to quantum careers, and gain valuable exposure to strategic program development within the quantum ecosystem.
Specific Objectives
- Collaborate on the design and expansion of Q-Ready, contributing to project planning, process improvement, and resource development.
- Recommend strategies and topics for program enhancement, including panel building and outreach content creation.
- Develop a mid-program report evaluating Q-Ready’s effectiveness, leveraging attendance data and participant feedback to assess impact and inform future improvements.
Qualifications
- Interest in quantum technologies, emerging tech, or science-driven industries
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for broad audiences
- Demonstrated organizational and project management skills and ability to manage multiple work streams and deadlines
- Experience with or interest in science communication, outreach, event planning, or program management
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
- Preferred to have someone that comes from a STEM/Quantum background to help with content focus.
