Externship Description

This externship provides experience in workforce development at the Chicago Quantum Exchange, emphasizing skill-building in program management and science communication. Externs will engage directly with Q-Ready, a pioneering initiative connecting students and postdocs to quantum careers, and gain valuable exposure to strategic program development within the quantum ecosystem.

Specific Objectives

  • Collaborate on the design and expansion of Q-Ready, contributing to project planning, process improvement, and resource development.
  • Recommend strategies and topics for program enhancement, including panel building and outreach content creation.
  • Develop a mid-program report evaluating Q-Ready’s effectiveness, leveraging attendance data and participant feedback to assess impact and inform future improvements.

Qualifications

  • Interest in quantum technologies, emerging tech, or science-driven industries
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for broad audiences
  • Demonstrated organizational and project management skills and ability to manage multiple work streams and deadlines
  • Experience with or interest in science communication, outreach, event planning, or program management
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
    • Preferred to have someone that comes from a STEM/Quantum background to help with content focus.
